Save Middlesex Philosophy!

It feels like a very dark time for arts and humanities at the moment. This week, Middlesex University announced the closure of their world-renowned Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy. While I understand the economic crisis is having a terrible impact everywhere, it would be horrific if this closure were to go ahead.

Everyone in the academic community is shocked and panicked. There have been pieces in the Guardian and Times Higher Education and its all over the web.

This isn’t just about esteemed educators losing their jobs, this about losing access to quality thought and letting thinkers and would-be thinkers of the future down. And there are implications for other centres of excellence if this one is forced to close. In short, this must not happen!

Please show your support for the department by signing the petition against the closure, following the facebook group or their tweets, or just go ahead and email Dean Esche and tell him no!
