Simpsons’ 20th Birthday

Can it be true? The Simpsons is celebrating its 20th Birthday! Actually, technically, its even older than that, but the 17th December is the 20th anniversary of its first full-length episode – a Christmas special no less. Aside of making me feel tremendously old, as I remember very clearly the excitement building as the UK waited for the show to be aired over here (and having a Bart Simpson pencil case at school), it also freaks me out to think that for most of the students I teach, the Simpsons started before they were born! I was happily referencing it the other day and in my own mind imagining I was finding an edgy example, but actually it must be really rather establishment in their minds!

Happy Birthday Simpsons and thank you, thank you, thank you for all the joy!
