The Dance Your PhD Contest

Oh this is too perfect for words – literally! The amount of times I’ve verbally stumbled over the answer to the fatal question: ‘what’s your PhD thesis about’. And then watched the person who asked make a wild dash for the nearest exit. But now I discover this: The Dance Your PhD Contest 2010.

Its genius, its a competition to convert your thesis topic into a dance! You upload a video of the moving (in both senses of the word) reinterpretation of your research, and you can win money! Yes, money! And also have your dance screened at the Imagine Science Film Festival, which to my mind sounds way better than giving a paper!

Of course, it would be wrong to enter into this blindly, there would need to be training because if you’ve been sitting at your computer for several years, even gentle pliet is going to seriously pull some muscles. But then, once you’re warmed up, imagine the possibilities!!!
