Art History of Games Symposium

In February 2010 Georgia Tech and SCAD are hosting a symposium called The Art History of Games. Through a filter of cultural studies and art history, while bringing together gaming experts including designers and new media arts specialists, the conference aims to look at game-play as an art form. I hate to say it but it really makes next year’s Association of Art Historians Annual Conference (which I’ll be speaking at) look rather backward. Why aren’t we looking into these things? Why does it still feel like a hell of a battle getting art history departments to address these cultural forms? With such a great line-up of speakers, I’m jolly disappointed I’ll be missing it!
